Board Accomplishments
-Hired a seasoned and talented Superintendent
-Fiscally sound budget every year.
-District-wide plays to everyone can participate in the Arts for 3 years.
-Labor partners: teachers & staff, have negotiated raises yearly.
-Reduced healthcare costs while maintaining coverage for staff.
Diversity
Diversity is a strength. Whittier City School District is and should remain a place where all learners are welcomed.
Goals
-Meet students’ academic needs(!)
-Increase literacy across the board
-Continue to grow STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) pathways for students
-Grow opportunities for family involvement at school sites
-Make arts available at all sites: drawing, music, drama
-Limit testing days and increase teaching days
-Compensate staff to the highest fiscally responsible level.
